Power of the Dance!

“To dance is to be out of yourself.  Larger, more beautiful, more powerful.”  ~Agnes De Mille

We as women do five million things a day, some of us may have a full time job, a part time job, have a wonderful family with children, and also find time to volunteer.  When was the last time you stopped and felt the power of your body while going through your busy day?

How often though in your day do you move your body just for you?  Did you ever spin with arms stretched wide open around in circles as a little girl looking up at the peacock blue sky and then fall over in a dizzy tizzy?  Laughing your guts out?  Yes you were perhaps getting dizzy, you might have been laughing as well because you felt the power in your body.  That spark of power that all women have when we move our bodies.

When I’m moving my own body to music even on the radio in my car I feel better.  I love starting my day with a dance.  Finding something on you tube that I like, taking time for me to move and stretch my body, it sets my day off on a positive.  Once the music starts, I take a couple of breaths and really feel my feet on the floor.  I get out of my head and into my body and just let it move, I don’t think about what I’m doing when I’m moving.

The power of moving your body can feel amazing.  There may be times when I’m dancing and all of a sudden I get a surge of energy, I feel hot, like I was spiked with a hot flash.  Or there are times when I get overwhelmed with salty tears streaming down my hot burning face.  Sometimes the tears are happy, and sometimes they are out of sadness, pain, and anger.  And all of it is good, all of it is beautiful.

I invite you sister to take time out for you.  Put on just one song a day and move your body to it.  Feel the power you have in your body, relax, let go, and feel the flow of your feminine radiance!  Strut your stuff, dance your dance.  YOU were born to shine!

I leave you with another one of my favourite dance quotes:  “Dancing with the feet is one thing, but dancing with the heart is another.”  ~Author Unknown
